ITALive - A Little Life

eenkleinleven:

Here it is! The full performance of Een Klein Leven, in its 4-hour-long glory. Note that the portion originally missing from the English stream is not subtitled but features precious little dialogue anyhow. My endless thanks to _ZERO-ErRoR_ZROE for putting all of it together. Further thanks to all of you who contributed your recordings–none of this would have been possible without you.

Enjoy!

Am I the only one who still — in the year of 2021 — loves the show The Nanny and Fran / Maxwell (Mr. Sheffield)?

Yeah clichés are wrong and hurt communities but it’s also a bad thing to condamn everyone who fits these clichés. This aroace character is cold and don’t care about anyone? This other one is unattractive by society’s standard? This non-binary character is autistic? This gay character is effeminated? This bisexual character make-out left and right with everyone? Ok. Ok that’s awful to represent all the time as in “all of people in X categorie are like that”, but demonizing any representation of the sort also demonize people who ARE like this, because yes they exist. It isn’t useful to reject them or make them feel bad. It is useful however to continue to educate people, “not everyone is like this, must of us aren’t like this even, but some are and they deserve respect too”. There is bad representation but there isn’t a bad way to be queer, and how you talk about representations reflects on people who see themselves in them. A lot of us forget that nowadays.
